Community Education

Crisis Center staff perform mental health presentations at schools and in the community throughout San Mateo County each year to both students and adults. Topics can be adjusted to be appropriate for any age group. Presentations typically run 60-90 minutes, but may be tailored to the organization upon request. Donations are appreciated but not required.

These interactive presentation topics include:

  • Suicide Prevention (School or Community)

    • This presentation covers mental health basics, how to identify suicide risk factors, and how to support someone dealing with suicidal thoughts, as well as introducing community resources.

  • Suicide Assessment for Professionals

    • This clinician lead training is for mental health or other professionals to learn clinical suicide assessment skills for clients and/or students.

  • Crisis Center Services Overview

    • This presentation covers all you need to know about Crisis Center services.

  • Mental Health First Aid

    • These nationally recognized training programs help adults, adults who work with youth, and teens learn about mental health and how to provide “mental health first aid” to those in their lives. Crisis Center staff must be accredited facilitators to give these trainings.
